Aim: To investigate the effects of peripheral fat mass on atherogenic risc profile.
Method: Data from nationwide cross-sectional survey enrolling a 1%Czech population random sample aged 25 - 64 years were pooled in 2000/01: 1,513 men (respondence, 63,8 %) and 1,639 women (respondence, 64,8 %).
Results: Periferalfat mass related to diabetes mellitus and dyslipidaemia. High hips circumference(4.quartiles)compared with low hipa circumference (1.quartile).
Conclusion: Our cross-sectional survey, in line with previous reports, support for the independent anti-atherogenic effect of periferal obesity.
